TCKL Roundup: Thomas' slam paces Wolverines to victory

Here is a recap of this past week’s action from the Tri-Cities Kids League.


Wolverines 18, Bulldogs 4

For the Wolverines, Louis Orduno went 4-for-4 at the plate and added some quality putouts in the infield on defense. Mason Thomas hit a grand slam and pitched two great innings, while Zach Drachus had a great hit and drove in a run.

For the Bulldogs, Tyler Bradtmueller recorded three strikeouts and two putouts on defense and added two stolen bases on offense. Justin Hancock added four strikeouts as the pitcher and added a single at the plate with one stolen base, while Ethan Ness came up from boys minor to record two putouts and single from the plate.

Jayhawks 10, Tigers 3

Ethan Dougherty led the Tigers, pitching two innings and earning two strikeouts and also added a double from the plate. Rockne Smith and Phoenix Boel each added two hits to fuel the Tiger offense.

Sun Devils 8, Razorbacks, 1

For the Razorbacks, Case Lecow pitched three innings and added two hits, while Austin Engel added two hits.

Rams 9 Wolverines 8

The Wolverines were led by Andrew Brinks with a double and two runs scored, while Ethan Burns reached base four times and scored a run. The Wolverines pitching was solid with Declan Ellenwood pitching two strong innings.

The Rams were led by the hitting of Jonathan Clausing and Brendan Howard, who both had two hits. Cayden Pawlak made multiple defensive plays in the field to hold back the surging Wolverines.

Hurricanes 22, Bulldogs 4

For the Bulldogs, Caleb Daly had three putouts, while Jacob Logan had a stolen base and two putouts, including a great catch at shortstop. Tyler Bradtmueller threw three strikeouts and had a stolen base and two putouts.

For the Hurricanes, Broc Nauta scored five runs and threw two scoreless innings, while Allen Tovey scored five runs and cleared the bases with a triple. Sam Bajt reached base five times, including an RBI triple.

Sun Devils 11, Jayhawks 3

Robert Greene of the Sun Devils recorded four hits.

Rams 2, Bulldogs 0

For the Rams, Josh Refarmado had two singles and an RBI, while Ethan Keskine had a great defensive play and a single from the plate and Alex Waite added two singles and a stolen base.

For the Bulldogs, Anthony Schrouder had a double and a stolen base, while William Butler had a single and a putout.

Razorbacks 9, Hurricanes 2

The Razorbacks were led by outstanding pitching from Reece Robson and Jimmy Cain, while Austin Engel went 2-for-3 from the plate.

The Hurricanes were led by Sam Ohlendorf, who knocked in two runs with a double, while Cole Gavrilides added a quality outing at catcher.


Nationals 8, Indians 3

For the Nats, Cameron Mesler hit a double, scored a run and had an RBI, while Micah TerHaar had a hit, scored two runs and threw out two runners from the catcher position.

Alex Girard recorded two hits, including a three-run home run, and threw out two runners from the catcher position. Zach Vandewege had a hit and an RBI, while Noah Jones added two hits for the Indians.


Angels 15, Diamondbacks 10

For the Angels, Kaylin Solack and Kadence Hren combined to make a highlight-reel play at first base. Kadence also assisted in two defensive putouts, while Libby Latimer hit a single.

For the Diamondbacks, Kendall Barnes had two hits, while Ellie Wrona and Claire Sova each played strong shifts at third base.

Diamondbacks 19, Dodgers 10

For the Diamondbacks, Kendall Barnes pitched two strong innings, while Izzy had a double play at first and Kaylynn Pavlidge was 3-for-3 from the plate.

For the Dodgers, Kaydee Young, Cheyenne Keeler and Jonah Hayes each added multi-hit games.

Angels 15, Dodgers 12

For the Angels, Kadence Hren added strong play at first base, while Emily Kus and Rebecca Petersen both had base hits.

For the Dodgers, Kaydee Young and Madison Eklund each recorded base hits, while Jazlyn Spring scored two runs.

Pirates 16, Angels 7

Ella "Pickle" Hawke provided offensive punch for the Pirates with an inside-the-park home run, while Evie "Sprite" McDonald added two hits and Gia "GoGo" Benner played excellent defense behind the plate.

For the Angles, Rebecca Peterson, Emily Kus and Lindsey Ladd all had base hits.

Tigers 18, Diamondbacks 10

For the Tigers, Megan Norton recorded two hits, while Ava Mesite added great defensive play at first base. Alia Zuidema closed out the game from the circle, allowing no runs to secure the win.

Pirates 20, Dodgers 19

The Pirates offense was powered by Kirsten "KVan" VanOrman with a triple, while Ella "Pickle" Hawke had a hit, three stolen bases and scored three runs. Kayla "Hotshot" Schohl had a great inning on the mound, as well. Brooke St. George, Chyanne Keeler and Emma VonOrdt all had hits for the Dodgers.


Timber Rattlers 18, Dash 6

Charlie Olmsted paced the Rattlers with a four-hit night, collecting two doubles and two singles. He also scored four runs and drove in seven runners. Charlie had a dazzling play in the hole at shortstop and was awarded the game ball. Landon O'Donnell threw two scoreless innings and collected two hits and two walks.

The Dash were paced by Emmit Wenta on the mound and Colson Grant's stellar defense, while Cameron Guilford collected two hits to lead the Dash offense.

Reds 9, Tin Caps 7

For the Reds, Royce Butler blasted a three-run home run, while Rian Bates added a triple and recorded two strikeouts from the mound.

For the Tin Caps, Jacob Payne had a quality start at catcher in his first appearance at the position, while Jason Diaz Deleon added an important putout on defense to end an inning.


Knights 8, Riverdogs 6

For the Riverdogs, Parker Slater, Philip Young, Josh Wiseman and Charlie Wiseman each recorded a hit.

For the Knights, Owen Haveman recorded a double, while Kennan Albaugh also hit a double and Sam Janiczek added a single.

Bulls 4, Grasshoppers 3

Kaleb Egeler, Nicky Egeler and Cody Baker scored for the Grasshoppers, while Tyler V. made an outstanding catch on defense. For the Bulls, Peyton Russell had an excellent hit, while Cohen Williams made a good catch in the field.

Muckdogs 4, Mudhens 4

The Muckdogs and Mudhens both played solid defense throughout the game for a draw. Levi Londot, Jalen Williams and Caiden Williamson continue to develop their skills at the plate and added timely hits for the Muckdogs.

Bees 10, Thunder 4

The Bees were led by Isaac Goosen, who had a triple and three RBIs, while Lennon Jorgensen added two doubles and two RBIs.

Frank Mulcahy led the Thunder in hits and added great defense, while Ethan Ambrose and Drew Hammerle also had multiple hits and RBIs.
