Registration is open for the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety’s Resistance Run, planned for Saturday, June 2, on Harbor Island.

The event is a fundraiser for the department’s T.E.A.M. program, formerly known as D.A.R.E.

Races include a 10k run that starts at 8 a.m., a 5k run that starts at 8:15 a.m. and a kids run that starts at 9:15 a.m. Walkers are also welcome.

The Grand Haven Department of Public Safety has provided an officer to work in the Grand Haven school district for more than 20 years. The liaison officer teaches life skills that are necessary to help students make good decisions and positive choices, while at the same time avoiding substance abuse and violent situations online and in person, according to Officer Nichole Hudson, organizer of the event.

All proceeds from the run will be used to provide educational tools, materials and information needed to accomplish this mission, Hudson said.

“Your support of this event is sincerely appreciated,” she added.

Packet pick-up and late registration will be under the white tent on Harbor Island on Friday, June 1, from 4-7 p.m.; and Saturday before the race, from 6:30-7:50 a.m.

Advanced registration can be completed online at www.ghdpsresistancerun.org, or by calling Hudson at 616-842-3460. More information is also available on the website.
