Volunteers can learn the proper way to plant and maintain a tree during a tree-planting workshop Saturday morning at the Ferrysburg City Hall, 17290 Roosevelt Road.

The event starts at 9 a.m. with planting expected to begin at 9:30 a.m.

The City of Ferrysburg is partnering with ReLeaf Michigan, as well as the Davey Resource Group, Lower Grand River Organization of Watersheds and the MDNR Urban and Community Forestry Program to add shade and increase the overall tree canopy around the playground at City Hall.

Tree experts will be there to help the volunteers.

The program will eventually include the public works garage and William Ferry Park.

Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to contact City Manager Craig Bessinger at 843-5028 or email him at cbessinger@ferrysburg.org.
