In addition to attending class, the fourth-grader received some fun responsibilities when she became Principal for the Day at Mary A. White Elementary School.
Willa’s parents won the opportunity for their daughter during the school’s fall auction fundraiser.
“It’s fun because I get to see what it’s like to be principal,” she said.
Willa’s day started with a visit to every classroom, and she planned to read to her younger sister’s class.
Some of her duties included writing “golden tickets” for students who earned them and making the announcements at the end of the day.
She also had the opportunity to decide if her classroom would have extra recess time. Willa said it depended on how good her classmates were for the day.
