Two groups of Grand Haven Area Public Schools employees will receive pay increases for the next school year.

On Monday, the Grand Haven school board approved contracts for administrators and the district’s non-association employees.

Non-association employees will receive a 2 percent increase for the 2019-20 school year. Those employees include the district’s Education Service Center staff, such as human services, business services, instructional services, mechanics, technology, registrars, classroom aides/paraprofessionals, nurses and playground aides.

The district’s administrators and directors received contract extensions through June 2021. The contracts include salary increases between 1.25 percent and 2 percent during the first year; the second year will be determined at a later date.

“We are pleased to be able to offer these raises to an incredible staff, who consistently put the needs of our students and school district first,” said Scott Grimes, the Grand Haven school district’s assistant superintendent. “We are fortunate to have such talented and hard-working employees.”

The non-association employees also received a 2 percent raise for the 2018-19 school year.

Earlier this month, the Grand Haven school board approved a 2 percent increase for staff members who belong to the 517M union, which includes food service, operations and transportation departments.
