HOLLAND — Police are investigating a fatal incident in Holland after a witness observed a dead body that had been hit on train tracks.

The body of a 30-year-old male was struck by a southbound CSX train around 11 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, on the train tracks at Ninth Street and Lincoln Avenue in Holland.

Police have not released the identity of the man, but Holland Police Department Capt. Keith Mulder said the man had recently been staying in Holland, but is from out of state.

“The subject was seen lying on the tracks just prior to being struck,” Mulder said. “It is too early to determine specifics for sure, prior to being struck, but we have some information leading us to believe he walked to the area near where he was struck.”

It’s unclear if this death was an accident or a suicide and the incident remains under investigation.
