The crash happened at around 7:40 a.m. on Lake Michigan Drive near 56th Avenue. The car was traveling west on Lake Michigan Drive when it went off the roadway to the right and over a curb. Police said the car being driven by 35-year-old Raymond Hafer continued through a group of trees and struck a house near the cement front porch area.
Sgt. Cal Keuning of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said the vehicle traveled 30-40 yards off the road before hitting the house.
Hafer was injured in the crash and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, where he was listed in stable condition.
The right lane on Lake Michigan Drive was closed for about 45 minutes after the crash while crews investigated the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
