HOLLAND — Following information from a victim who saw his property being sold online, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man suspected of several area break-ins.

After multiple home invasions were reported over the Oct. 5 weekend in Holland and Park townships, one of the home invasion victims saw some of his stolen items being sold on Craigslist. The victim contacted the Sheriff’s Office, who then found and arrested the man who posted the items for sale.

The 38-year-old Grand Rapids man was arrested without incident in Holland on Wednesday and was found in possession of several stolen items. After being interviewed by detectives, the suspect led police to a home in Allegan County, where other stolen items were recovered.

Police say the suspect may be involved in other break-ins in the area. At least three homes have been identified and additional suspects will most likely be charged, according to Capt. Mark Bennett of the Sheriff’s Office.

So far, $10,000 of stolen property has been recovered.

The suspect’s identity will be released by police after he is arraigned in court, Bennett said Thursday.

Anyone with information about the break-ins should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 616-738-4000 or Silent Observer at 877-887-4536. Anonymous tips can be submitted online at mosotips.com.
