Police are looking for a group of suspects who have stolen cellphones from at least four stores in Ottawa County during the past week.

In the most recent incident, the group walked into an open Sprint store in Holland Township on Tuesday evening and cut the security attachments from several phones and removed them from display racks. The suspects then fled on foot.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit was unsuccessful in tracking down the suspects, said Capt. Mark Bennett.

The same suspects broke into the Cellular Connection in Georgetown Township on Oct. 10, the Verizon store in Allendale Township on Oct. 13 and the AT&T store in Holland Township on Oct. 15, Bennett said. All three stores were closed at the time.

Bennett did not say how many cellphones were taken in the incidents or whether police have a description of the suspects.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office detectives are working with other law enforcement agencies to determine if there are similar incidents elsewhere that may be connected, Bennett said.
