He was born August 19, 1929 in Muskegon, MI to Earl and Bernice (Fitzpatrick) McLean. Foremost, Ray was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He attended Muskegon Heights High School, played basketball, baseball, and was an All-State football offensive and defensive end.
Ray served in the Navy during the Korean War. Ray was a self-employed builder and construction foreman until retirement, and generously used his skills to help those in need. Ray especially enjoyed heading south and building homes with Habitat for Humanity.
He served as a deacon at his church and on the school board for Grand Haven Christian School. Ray was thankful to be a recovered alcoholic and to help others with sobriety. His enjoyment came from spending time with his family, trout fishing, golfing, and watching sports.
