James Schottey

Mr. James Lane Schottey, age 80, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on April 4, 1938 to John and Doris (Stockhill) Schottey and served his country in the U.S. National Guard.

He married the former Carroll Berndt on July 5, 1970. Jim had been the owner of Tri-City Linen for over 20 years until retiring. He enjoyed music and played the clarinet and sax in the Scottville Clown Band and Holland American Legion Band. Jim also sang in barbershop quartets and church choirs. He loved high school sports and you could always see him at his grandsons events, cheering them on.

Jim had a strong faith and enjoyed Hebrew studies. He will be remembered for being a very generous and giving person.

Survivors: His wife of 48 years, Carroll; son, Tony Schottey of Holland; daughter, Kristen (Greg) Smith of Holland; grandchildren, Ben and Sam; brothers, John Schottey, Richard (Charlene) Schottey; and sister, Carol Burden; he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Schottey and brothers, David and Paul.

Service: Friday, December 28, 2018, 11 a.m. at the Clock Chapel – Grand Haven with Bruce Chapman officiating. Internment in Lakeshore Cemetery.
