William ‘Bill’ A. Tiles

William "Bill" A. Tiles, age 89, of Grand Haven passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at home surrounded by family. He was born November 7, 1929, in Grand Haven to Stefan and Kate (Drinko) Tiles.

Bill married Leone Heerspink in 1959. Bill served his country in the United States Marine Corps and, upon his return to Grand Haven, purchased and operated the gas station at the corner of U.S. 31 and M-45. He also worked at Prince Bridge and Marine as a bridge builder and truck driver for many years, but spent his career farming, and was the founder and owner of Tiles Blueberry Farms. Bill was an outdoors kind of man who also enjoyed traveling with Leone over the years.

Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Leone; and his five sons: William, Ronald (Joyce), Craig (Sandy), Kenneth (Jeanine) and Terry Tiles, all of the Grand Haven area; 11 grandchildren; sister, Betty (Robert) Reenders; and brother, Albert Tiles. He was preceded in death by sisters, Elsie Sorensen and Anna Berg; and brothers: Frank, John, Walter and Henry Tiles.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date, and announced in the spring. Interment will be in Olive Township Cemetery.
