Charlotte (Charles) Munch

Charlotte Genieve (Charles) Munch, 97, of Grand Haven died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at the Christian Haven Home for the Elderly in Grand Haven, Michigan.

Charlotte was born August 21, 1921, to Nellie (Van Haver) and George Charles in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. Shortly after her birth, her father passed away. She then went to live with her Aunt Mary and Uncle Vern Drake with their nine children for a period of 10 years. Upon the remarriage of her mother to Frank Havlick in 1935, she moved back with her parents.

Charlotte met the love of her life, Adolph “Bud” Munch, while working at Continental Motors in Muskegon, Michigan, and they were married June 7, 1940, in Grand Haven, Michigan. Remaining in love with him, for a little over 60 years together, when “Bud” passed unto his Lord Jesus in 2001.

She enjoyed family gatherings, camping, making pancakes for her grandkids, playing cards and dancing with “Bud.”

Survivors include her three sons: Bob (Judy) of Plainwell, Jim (Greer) of Grand Haven and Vic (Linda) of Grand Haven; as well as eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, “Bud,” in 2001; and her youngest son, Roger, in 1990.

A graveside service will be held at a later date for Charlotte at the Grand Haven Township Cemetery on Lincoln and Lakeshore Drive, Grand Haven. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the Christian Haven Home or to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
