David K. Johnston Jr.

David K. Johnston Jr., 72, of Beaverton, Michigan, passed away at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland, Michigan, on Friday, December 28, 2018.

He was born in Spring Lake, Michigan, on December 4, 1946, the son of David K. Sr. and Marion (Johnson) Johnston. He graduated from Spring Lake High School in the class of 1965. On January 10, 1981, he married Barbara Finn (Fox) in Spring Lake.

David was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and he worked for Johnston Boiler in Ferrysburg. He had lived in Gladwin County for the last 13 years, previously residing in Muskegon, Michigan, and he was a member of F.O.E. Albright Shores Aerie 3655, Beaverton, Michigan.

His memory will be forever cherished by his son, Joshua Johnston of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Kimberly (Chuck) Christmas of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and daughter, Stacey (Chris) Davis of Auburndale, Florida. His children blessed him with nine grandchildren: Jacob, Cheyann, Jordan, Corey, Alex, McKenzie, Maiya, Sanjay and Neelahn. He is survived by his brother, Greg (Carol) Johnston; brother in-law and sister in-law, Jim and Cindy Fox; niece, Kristi (Greg) Bowlby; and his nephew, Jay (Maren) Fox. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Johnston; and his parents, David K. Sr. and Marion Johnston.

Honoring his wishes, there will be no services at this time. There will be a memorial luncheon this spring. Time and date to be determined.
