Rita Pauline Kintz Anderson was born October 7, 1935, in Battle Creek, Michigan. She passed away at the age of 83 on December 20, 2018, in Tyler, Texas.

Rita was the loving wife of Charles Baltes Anderson, who passed away in 2011. Rita and Charles attended St. Philip Catholic High School in Battle Creek, Michigan, and were high school sweethearts, graduating in 1953. Their five children together with her active husband shaped Rita’s life. She was always known as a joker like her father, her nickname being “Roadrunner Rita.” Rita was very proud of the time she worked at Kellogg’s as a secretary. They raised their children in Southern Michigan before moving to Fort Worth, Texas. Along the way, Rita taught catechism, served as a den mother and painted for her own enjoyment. Rita and Charles were supporters of Interlochen Center for the Arts, where they spent many happy times on their own and with their children and grandchildren. Rita served two terms as Board of Directors chairperson of the Nan Travis Foundation in Jacksonville, Texas. Rita loved to travel, loved to collect and loved her sweets.

Rita was preceded in death by her siblings: Mary Bruin, Theresa Hilton, Thomas Kintz and Ann Kintz. Rita will be buried at Battle Creek Memorial Park near her parents Paul and Marvel (Haskins) Kintz. Memorial services will be held in Battle Creek, Michigan, at St. Phillip Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by five children: Kathleen J. Moss (William R.), Laura J. Andersen, Charles T. Andersen, Mary J. Krizmanic (Mark P.) and John L. Andersen (Laura L.); 11 grandchildren: Matthew L. Moss (Lauren C.), Elizabeth R. Pearlman, Victoria I. Pearlman, Charles L. Pearlman, Adam B. Andersen, Paul B. Andersen, Mariah L. Andersen, Emily D. Lawrence (Derick), Hanna P. Powers (Andy), Zoe L. Andersen and Beathan T. Andersen; and two great-grandchildren, Sage N. Moss and Emma B. Powers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019, at noon at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Memorials may be made to the Charles and Rita Anderson Academy Scholarship at Interlochen Center for the Arts, P.O. Box 199, Interlochen, MI 49643-0199.
