Sen. Bernie Sanders announced Friday that he will be making an additional stop in Michigan over the weekend, hitting up the west side of the state.

Sanders, a Democrat candidate for president, will be stopping in Coopersville for a meeting with the UA Local 174, a trade union representing West Michigan plumbers, fitters and other members of service trades.

The event is closed to the public. WXMI-TV reported that Sanders will be in Coopersville at about 1:30 p.m.

The Vermont senator will also be making a stop in Warren on Saturday, and that event is open to the public.

Sanders isn't the first candidate to start campaigning in Michigan ahead of the 2020 election. Other people vying for the Democratic ticket, former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, stopped in Michigan last month.

Additionally, President Donald Trump held a 2020 re-election rally at the end of March in Grand Rapids.

Sanders is also making stops in Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania over the weekend.
