Two separate developments including condominiums in Grand Haven Township were approved by the Township Board on Monday.

Bosgraaf Homes will build 26 condominium units along Millhouse Bayou on 152nd Avenue, south of Groesbeck Street. The 9-acre development will include 4 acres of wooded areas, floodplain and wetlands. The development will include 11 two-unit condos and one four-unit condo.

Additionally, Eastbrook Homes acquired an extra 20 acres of land to expand the Lincoln Pines subdivision off Lincoln Street. The site is a total of 80 acres and includes 114 single-family homes on platted lots and 48 condo units, in addition to 17 acres of open space.

Construction will begin for both developments in 2019.

Township Community Developer Stacey Fedewa told the Tribune for a story last month that the populations of baby boomers and millennials are growing in the township. Nearly half of condo buyers are baby boomers, she said, and a Township Master Plan in 2016 indicated a 15 percent increase in the need for condos during the past two years.

“Both of these age groups are trending toward low-maintenance and smaller living units that are near amenities and are walkable,” Fedewa said. “Condos achieve a great deal of these needs, especially the low-maintenance and smaller floor plans.”
