Girls soccer defeats Ludington

Western Michigan Christian girls soccer picked up a key Lakes 8 Conference victory Monday, defeating Ludington 1-0 on the road.

WMC’s lone goal came in the second half on a senior-freshman combination. Senior Anna Sytsema secured the assist with an excellent cross inside the box, where freshman Sydney Betten one-touched it into the back of the net.

“It was great to see the hard play of the defensive group to hold off a very passionate Ludington team,” said head coach David Hulings.

WMC next plays Muskegon Catholic Central on Wednesday, and a win or tie gives it the conference championship.
