Committee appointments were announced this week by House Speaker Lee Chatfield.
Both committees are among the four with the authority to send bills directly to the House floor. Reviewing proposals that previously have been considered by other House policy committees will improve debate, analysis and accountability, Lilly said.
Topics reviewed by Ways and Means could include health policy, tax policy, education, commerce, regulatory reform and many others. The Government Operations committee focuses on legislation impacting the core functions of government.
“This assignment is a true honor that I do not take lightly,” Lilly said. “It’s a great opportunity to stand up for the people of Ottawa County and help ensure every bill that passes through to the House floor represents their interests.”
Lilly is now in his second term as the representative for the state House 89th District, which includes the Grand Haven area. Residents may contact his office at 517-373-0838 or email JimLilly@House.MI.gov.
