FERRYSBURG — Traffic backed up for a malfunctioning U.S. 31 drawbridge led to a three-car crash that sent two people to the hospital late Friday afternoon.
Motorists are being advised to avoid northbound U.S. 31 near the I-96 exit.
Temporary detour changes are coming to Grand Haven as the Harbor Drive reconstruction project enters its next phase.

Columbus between Harbor Drive and Fifth Street will be closed from about 2 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday while new stripes and signage work is done.
UPDATE: 4:20 p.m. — Both north and southbound lanes of U.S. 31 over the drawbridge have reopened, officials say.
“The two-road, one-way pair is a vestige of a time long gone,” Councilman Bob Monetza said.
Grand Haven public safety officials and engineers say the four-way stop at the Grand/Wisconsin intersection won’t be a permanent fixture.
HOLLAND TWP. — More traffic changes are on the docket for Holland Township relating to the U.S. 31 reconstruction.
CROCKERY TWP. — Lane closures for bridge work will be in effect next week on I-96 under Apple Drive in Crockery Township.
MUSKEGON — Lane closures for road work will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the I-96 and U.S. 31 interchange, and on U.S. 31 between Sherman Boulevard and Laketon Avenue.
